Christian Marriage Coaching

Christian Marriage Coaching is designed for couples that have a good marriage but would like to see it get even better. Let’s face it, life is busy. Time can just start flying by and suddenly, we’re just going through the motions of being married. We can find ourselves, 2, 5, 10, 20 years into our marriage and looking for more!

We love our spouse, and we would never in a million years consider divorcing them, but deep down inside we want more. You know you can get there, but you may just need a little help, guidance, and accountability to get it all to come together.

Well, if that’s the case for you, some coaching and encouragement might be the best thing for you and your spouse. God doesn’t expect us to have all the answers. For me personally, I’ve always had individuals and other couples that have mentored Jodi and me through all the years of our marriage and it has been invaluable.

As we start working together it will be my goal to get to know you better, learn more about your story and what you're looking to improve upon within your marriage. We'll use an Assessment tool called Prepare/Enrich to help guide us into areas that could use some strengthening. As I get to know you, I will begin to encourage you with practical applications from my own life and provide you with valuable scripture references, books, and other tools that will help you along this journey.

We can go a lot of different directions here, so we'll talk it through together and come to an agreement on the best direction for you. The goal is to find the areas you want to grow in, areas like: communication, conflict resolution, money, sex, roles and responsibilities, and many others. Once identified, we can tart traveling down those paths.

My approach will always be Biblically based with a lot of practical application as well. I'll challenge each of you about your God-given responsibilities and whether or not you are consistently demonstrating an Agape or Sacrificial love toward one another. The Bible has a lot to say about this topic and I'm a firm believer that if we can hit God's expectations 70% of the time, we'll truly have a marriage that we would wish for anyone.

Method and Tools - I completely believe that God's Word has the power to transform lives and if we are willing to study God's Word and submit to its authority, life change can and will occur. Therefore, you must be committed to investing the necessary time, effort, and energy into studying God's Word and then putting that knowledge into action by what I would call, "lifing it out!" In James 2:14-16 it says, "Faith without works is dead," so we must do something with it for it to matter. One of my favorite all time quotes says it this way, "The outgrowth of all knowledge is obedience, everything else is just useless information." - Watchman Knee.

You see, we can have all the knowledge in the world, but unless we do something with it or "life it out," it's useless information. I could study the entire Bible, from Genesis through Revelation. But unless I'm practicing and "lifing out" what it says, it's just useless information.

My qualifications are that I am called by God to minister to couples in need and have been for over 25 years. Over this time I have worked with hundreds of couples while also serving in full time pastoral ministry for 10 of those years. One of my job roles at the church was to counsel people in need so I worked with individuals, couples, and families to help them navigate their individual and unique circumstances. I now use and call on that real life experience and the Power of God's Word to bring healing and reconciliation to marriages that need it. I make no guarantees to couples receiving the results that they desire because I believe that great marriages in general are a choice and that belief is based on the passage noted above.

I do however acknowledge that some people can and do have physiological and psychological needs that only a licensed, educated and trained person can meet. If together we discern that this is the case for you, I will make the recommendation for you to find someone in your local area to see, or if you're local to me, I can help steer you in the right direction based on my experiences with local professionals.
